On Tuesday Fernando Tores underwent a scan to assess the extent of the groin injury he sustained in the closing stages of Spain's World Cup final victory. The scan by the Spanish medical team revealed that the striker suffers from: a small tear in his left adductor muscle, with an estimated time of recovery of three weeks.
The forward sustained the injury in the final minutes of Spain's World Cup final match with Holland. The Liverpool and Spain number '9' pulled up after chasing a long ball. The striker felt a sharp pain in his left leg before receiving treatment from the national team doctor. Seconds later, the referee blew his final whistle, leading to wild celebrations from the new World Cup champions. With the Vicente Del Bosque's squad now back in the Spanish capital, Torres had his injury assessed.
The Spain international will now enjoy a well deserved break, his first as a World Cup winner.
